Yousif Zozani

A Peshmarga and advanced cadre of PUK, his full name is Yousif Ibrahim Ibrahim, born in 1944 in a small city called Srikani belong toHasaka Governorate. His origin is from Zozan area in the outskirts of Diar Bakr in Northern Kurdistan.

In 1953 started primary school education then in his third year he was transferred to an exemplary Christian school. He moved to Hasaka for high school study.

The conditions of the Kurds in Syria and the political situation in general pushed him from the beginning of his youth towards politics.
During his high school studies, he became a member of the Kurdish Democratic Party in Syria, which was secretly active at that time.
After completing his high school studies in the city of Homs in 1966, he left Syria to Yugoslavia for study. There he joined the ranks of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, the wing of the political bureau (Ibrahim Ahmed and Mam Jalal).

And when the Conference of the party was held in Europe in Berlin in the spring of 1967, he represented along with another member of the party organizations of Yugoslavia and was elected as a reserve member of the Committee of Party Organizations in Europe after a while he was appointed as a permanent member.

During that period, he had many activities including:

Reprinting of Muhammad Talab Hilal's book in Arabic and translating it into French and English in cooperation with Esmat Sharif Wanli.
With a group of colleagues, he issued the Al Qafla magazine in the name of the association’s branch in Yugoslavia, and the Pershnig magazine in the name of the Berlin branch, and then he became the secretary of the branch in Yugoslavia.

In 2000, he returned to Sulaymaniyah to supervise the reprinting of Al-Mutamar newspaper, the mouthpiece of the Iraqi opposition.
On May 20 2004 he was assigned by Mam Jalal to be his personal representative at the University of Sulaymaniyah and the link between him and the presidency of the university in order to develop it and secure its needs.

He was then entrusted with the responsibility of organizing and supervising the abroad organizations of the PUK.
In 2010 he was elected as a member and spokesperson of the Presidency Committee of the Third Conference of PUK in Sulaimaniyah until the conference ended and a new leadership was elected.
