In the meeting, which was attended by Nizar Amedi, a member of the Politbureau of the Union, and Dr. Khalid Shawani, the Iraqi Minister of Justice, the latest developments and events in Iraq and the region were discussed.
During the meeting, the implementation of the oil agreement between the Kurdistan Region and Iraq and the removal of all obstacles facing that agreement were also discussed. President Bafel Jalal Talabani asked the Prime Minister of Iraq to expedite the procedures for sending salaries so that the salary distribution schedule in the Kurdistan Region can be synchronized with the rest of Iraq.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of Iraq and the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan also discussed the upcoming elections for the Iraqi Council of Representatives and emphasized the importance of holding clean and fair elections.
In another part of the meeting, Bafel Jalal Talabani thanked Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani for changing the name of Sulaimani International Airport to Jalal Talabani International Airport.
Services for the families of martyrs in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq were another topic of the meeting. President Bafel Jalal Talabani stated that the Prime Minister of Iraq is himself the son of a martyr, and therefore he is expected to give special importance to the families of martyrs — a stance that is greatly appreciated.
