Environment Minister Visits President Jalal Talabani Foundation, Stresses Cooperation on Environmental Projects

On Thursday, October 23, 2025, Dr. Halo Askari, the Iraqi Minister of Environment, visited the President Jalal Talabani Foundation in Sulaymaniyah and was welcomed by Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Sabir, the President of the President Jalal Talabani Foundation.

In a meeting, they discussed the mechanisms for completing the tree planting project in Sulaymaniyah. This project falls within the framework of a memorandum of understanding that was signed between the two parties on February 24, 2025, aiming for cooperation in the fields of environmental protection and increasing green areas.

Both parties emphasized the importance of continuing joint work to ensure the success of the project, to increase and expand green areas, and to participate in improving the city's environmental conditions.

The Environment Minister also indicated the readiness of the Ministry of Environment to provide the necessary technical and logistical support to ensure the continuity of the project.

In another part of the meeting, the ongoing efforts of Kale Muhammad, the director of the foundation's projects department, were highlighted in monitoring the implementation stages of the project and maintaining continuous coordination with relevant parties to ensure the achievement of the environmental and developmental goals.

At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Sabir reiterated his foundation's commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and implementing the terms of the memorandum of understanding through practical projects that contribute to spreading environmental awareness, planting trees in cities, and supporting sustainability initiatives in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
