The statue of President Mam Jalal in Kirkuk was unveiled.



On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, in the presence of Her Excellency Mrs. Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmad, the First Lady of Iraq, Mr. Aso Mamand, Member of the Political Bureau and Supervisor of Kirkuk–Salahaddin for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Sabir, President of the President Jalal Talabani Foundation, and Mr. Rebwar Taha, Governor of Kirkuk Province, the largest statue of President Mam Jalal was unveiled in a park at the entrance to the city of Kirkuk. The attendees emphasized that President Mam Jalal was beloved by all the components of Kirkuk.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Mr. Aso Mamand stated in his speech:
“Although President Mam Jalal was a very busy man, he continuously came to Kirkuk and met with all its communities. Therefore, not only the Union and the Kurds hold President Mam Jalal dear, but all the components of Kirkuk love him.”
He added:
“If we truly want to honor the soul of President Mam Jalal, we must serve Kirkuk more.”
Regarding the Union’s policy toward Kirkuk, Aso Mamand pointed out:
“The Kurdistan National Union, under the leadership of President Bafel, continues to follow the same path as President Mam Jalal, since Kirkuk is a city of coexistence and love.”
He also said:
“The people of Kirkuk deserve greater services, and deserve that people from all cities of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region wish to come to Kirkuk and settle here.”
Aso Mamand reiterated:
“The people of Kirkuk were very loyal to the legacy of President Mam Jalal, and we also promise to continue on his path and serve them.”

Meanwhile, Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Sabir, President of the President Jalal Talabani Foundation, stated in his speech:
“This occasion is a unique opportunity to express the deep love that the people of Kirkuk have for that great leader who dedicated his life to service.”
He also noted:
“There is no way to build a nation except through the love and coexistence that President Mam Jalal established. President Mam Jalal viewed Kirkuk as a living example of unity and shared life.”
At the same ceremony, Mr. Rebwar Taha, Governor of Kirkuk and Head of the Union’s List 222 in the province, stated:
“This statue is not just carved stone; it is a symbol of loyalty and an eternal memorial to a leader who devoted his life to serving his country.”
He added:
“President Mam Jalal loved Kirkuk for its diverse religious and national composition. He regarded this city as a living example of unity and coexistence. With that sincerity, he worked for Kirkuk to remain a symbol of brotherhood among Kurds, Arabs, Turkmens, Chaldeans, and Assyrians.”
Regarding the project, he stated:
“This project was carried out under the responsibility of the local government of Kirkuk.”
Finally, Mr. Taha emphasized:
“No matter what we do or how much we serve, we cannot match President Mam Jalal’s loyalty to Kirkuk.”
