On Tuesday, December 15, 2025, Rezhan Hassan, Head of the Archives of the President Jalal Talabani Foundation, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the Foundation with the German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB) – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology, located in Hannover.
The memorandum aims to strengthen joint cooperation between the two parties in advancing archival practice, scientific methodologies, the provision of scientific resources, and research support, particularly in the following areas:
First: Capacity Building and Training
Organizing specialized courses, workshops, and training programs for Foundation staff in cooperation with TIB, focusing on archive and library management, archival platforms and engineering, digitization techniques, and the organization and classification of archival materials.
Second: Archival Exchange
Facilitating the exchange of archival materials (political, cultural, and scientific) while fully preserving the ownership rights of each party.
Third: Researcher Support
Collaborating to support researchers from universities and academic centers in accessing relevant resources, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Fourth: Network Building
Establishing a network of cooperation with international scientific, academic, and archival institutions through the organization of joint seminars, workshops, and scientific conferences, and by promoting academic and archival collaboration globally.
At the conclusion of the signing ceremony, the representative of the President Jalal Talabani Foundation extended the Foundation’s sincere gratitude and appreciation to Professor Sören, President of TIB, and Dr. Jawad Chamanara, Director of Projects, for their cooperation and support.
