Message from the President Jalal Talabani Foundation on the Occasion of the Twenty-Third Anniversary of the Fall of the Fascist Regime

The passing of twenty-three years since the collapse of the dictatorial Ba'athist regime – a day known as the liberation of Iraq (April 9, 2003) – marks the end of a regime whose identity was defined by oppressive dictatorship, tyranny, arrogance, totalitarian rule, and the mass killing of the Kurdish people.

We remember the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime as a significant milestone in the history of our people and in the elimination of dictatorship, through which the struggle and sacrifices of the Kurdish forces, alongside their allies, led to the achievement of justice and the rule of law.

The liberation of Iraq was a fundamental transformation in the history of Iraq and Kurdistan, bringing an end to a dark era marked by oppression and tyranny.

We hope that all Iraqi political parties will work with a high national spirit to overcome the current situation facing the region, provide stability, security, and peace for the country, and continue their efforts to preserve these achievements and to persist in building a democratic and just society.
