The First International Scientific Conference on President Jalal Talabani at the University of Sulaimani

On the occasion of the eighth anniversary of the passing of President Jalal Talabani, the President Jalal Talabani Foundation, in cooperation with the University of Sulaimani and a number of other universities—Koya, Raparin, Halabja, Karmian, Sulaimani Polytechnic University, Garmian Polytechnic University, Komar University, Tishk International University, Qaiwan International University, Cihan University, and Charmo University—organized a conference under the slogan:
"President Mam Jalal – The Truth and Historical Stances."

The conference was held under the patronage of Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Sabir, president of the President Jalal Talabani Foundation, and Professor Dr. Kosar Muhammad, President of the University of Sulaimani, in the conference halls of the University of Sulaimani.

The conference included nine scientific panels covering multiple themes, most notably:
• The biography and leadership personality of President Mam Jalal.
• His political and revolutionary thought.
• His role in establishing the rule of law.
• His contributions to supporting women's issues and rights.
• His role in promoting political stability and balance in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
• His impact in the fields of education and higher education.
• His role in obtaining and guaranteeing the rights of the Kurdish people in the four parts of Kurdistan, as well as the rights of other national and religious components in Iraq.
• His stances on human freedom, media, and press.
• His status and role in regional and international political and diplomatic work.

On the first day of the conference, following the ceremony marking the eighth anniversary of the passing of President Jalal Talabani on October 3, 2025, the participating researchers were introduced.
The second day, corresponding to October 4, 2025, witnessed the presentation of a number of academic research papers within multiple panels.
At the conclusion of the conference, awards and certificates of appreciation and recognition were presented to the participating researchers.

The conference saw the participation of 28 researchers from the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and a number of countries around the world, who presented 20 scientific papers addressing the intellectual, political, and humanitarian aspects of the career of the late President Mam Jalal Talabani.
