Congratulations from the President Jalal Talabani Foundation on the Occasion of International Workers' Day

On the occasion of May 1st, International Workers' Day – the President Jalal Talabani Foundation extends its warmest congratulations to all workers in Kurdistan, Iraq, and around the world.

The advancement of working methods, the improvement of working conditions, and the reduction of burdens placed on workers are central goals pursued by progressive societies. Workers form the backbone of nation-building and progress, whether in the public or private sector, playing a vital and profound role in the prosperity of their countries. Their services reach every individual in society.

It is essential for the government and labor unions to be more serious and resolute in defending workers' rights and demands, ensuring that discussions about their rights are not limited to just one day—May 1st. We emphasize the importance of fully securing workers' rights and improving their lives and living conditions through effective cooperation and the enactment of fair laws that guarantee them dignity, health, and respect for working hours.

Unfortunately, labor laws are still not implemented as required, and the work environment, safety standards, and living conditions do not match the level of effort workers put into building the nation. Moreover, the efforts to secure a decent life for them remain insufficient and require faster progress. Alongside investment projects, priority must be given to protecting workers' lives and ensuring their safety.

We pay tribute and reverence to the souls of those workers who sacrificed their lives to improve reality and advance the country. We hope that a dignified life, worthy of their sacrifices, will be secured for all workers.
