On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Sabir, President of the President Jalal Talabani Foundation, received Mr. Liu Jun, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in the Kurdistan Region, and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, the President of the Foundation renewed his thanks and appreciation for the commitment of the Chinese people and the Consulate General in developing relations between the two sides.
The Consul General notably highlighted the role of President Mam Jalal in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in building strong relations between the Kurdish people and the People's Republic of China.
Another part of the meeting focused on improving and developing cultural and intellectual relations between the President Jalal Talabani Foundation and the Chinese Consulate and the People's Republic of China.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Sabir requested the Consul General of the People's Republic of China to allocate a number of academic seats in Chinese universities for graduates from the Kurdistan Region to pursue master's and doctoral degrees in all specializations.
